Place yourself in the position of a runner lining up at the start of the race. It’s tempting to want to take off with everyone else and run as fast as you possibly can. But first, you have to find your pace.
In life, we begin to worry about tomorrow, next week or next month which creates unnecessary stress and anxiety. The pains we feel in our everyday life from these stressors are similar to what a runner feels while participating in a marathon. For instance, if the runner loses discipline and allows their mind to separate from their body, all focus is lost, and they won’t be able to perform as they’ve practiced. In the same vein, you cannot allow each day or moment that has become troublesome to divert you off course. You have to understand that in life, just as the marathon this journey will entail pain. But with the pain, you develop strength and endurance. You have to concentrate on how exhilarating crossing the finish line will feel. The euphoria of that moment is indescribable, but you first have to put yourself out there in order to be rewarded.
