Self Discipline

If you were asked to give your definition of success, what would you start with? What would be the main ingredients? Now if you could give a perfect answer to what society deems as a success, what would that be? Regardless of whoever provides their laundry list of main ingredients, what isn’t shown is the laborious time that was spent exercising self-discipline.
Success by all means is built on the foundation of the discipline. In my first book, I referred to how a person will speak to accomplishments but casually glaze right over the work they had to administer. I get it, it’s not sexy and it will never be. No one wants to hear about having to restart over a dozen times making corrections after correction.
I’ll be honest, having self-discipline sucks and is quite boring. If it was a fun part of the process, there would be more wealthy and successful people. Being disciplined is behavior that you must turn into a lifestyle norm. It will happen over some time and there isn’t a particular age that it defines when you’ll reach that point.
You have to make a pledge to yourself, and acknowledge that you’ll do whatever it takes to follow through on this responsibility. It’ll be something you won’t enjoy on the front end, but you’ve committed to doing it regardless. As I said, it’s going to suck! It will happen even with the things you're most passionate about. You’ll be pushed to question whether this IS something you really want.
